How to cook rice

Rice is an everyday ingredient being used in many different recipes. How you cook rice depends on the type of rice you are using. For these instructions, we are going for regular white rice.

Ingredients

  • 300 gram of rice
  • 1.5 liter water
  • pinch of salt

These are the ingredients we use to cook our white rice. Some people also like adding a bit of olive oil to their water to make the rice less sticky. 

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Bring a generous amount of water to the boil in a cooking pot.

Step 2

 Take the required amount of rice (+/- 75 g of uncooked rice per person) and put it in a sieve. Rinse the rice with cold water and drain.

Step 3

Add a pinch of salt to the boiling water and cook the rice in it for 8-10 minutes.
Stir the rice from time to time while cooking so that it does not stick to the bottom.

Step 4

When the rice is cooked, drain it using the sieve. Put the rice back in the pot and let it simmer for a while with a lid on the pot.
